Legalization

Treaty between the Republic of Serbia and Montenegro on Mutual Legal Assistance in Civil and Criminal Matters, signed on May 29th 2009, abolished the requirement of legalization of public and private documents issued or certified by a court or other competent authority of a Contracting State. Public documents issued by the competent authority of a Contracting State shall have the same demonstrative force as domestic public documents in other Contracting State.

Certificates from the civil status registry on domestic forms are in use in legal matters between the Republic of Serbia and Montenegro.

Republic of Serbia and Montenegro are signatories to the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents.
